It was a breakthrough model that opened the way to the SUV and off-road segment. It was thanks to its massive frame, simple design and ability to drive over difficult terrain that the Bronco built a solid fan base. During its existence, it was produced in five generations and always kept up with technological developments without losing its characteristic face.
The Ford Bronco has become a symbol of American style and freedom, which was confirmed by its successful return to the market in 2020. The new generation brought not only modern technology, but also a faithful legacy of the design of the original models with square shapes and a distinctive front grille, which in its style is reminiscent of the classic Bronco from the late 1960s. The Ford Bronco is not just about looks; its technical equipment is carefully designed to handle harsh conditions that other cars would have difficulty overcoming. The basis is a robust ladder frame, which significantly contributes to the total weight of over 2400 kilograms. When driving on a broken surface, there is no need to maneuver between holes and potholes, as the chassis and tires hold the wheels in a stable position, which significantly increases safety and driving comfort.
Unlike most conventional SUVs, the driver does not feel the need to reduce speed in front of retarders, which helps to maintain the brake system in better condition and extends its service life. Alongside the classic Bronco, the other face of the brand is the Bronco Sport, which is more civilized and practical for everyday life, but still retains a significant share of off-road capabilities. This crossover was created on a platform shared with the European Ford Kuga and is produced in Mexico. Although it is about 25 cm shorter than the Kuga, its design evokes robustness and refers to the classic shapes of the first Bronco from the 1960s.
In terms of performance, it is equipped with a basic three-cylinder EcoBoost with a power of 184 hp or a more powerful four-cylinder with 248 hp, which provides dynamics corresponding to the sportier variants of European models in the SUV segment. All-wheel drive and a sophisticated G.O.A.T. system guarantee safe driving on various surfaces, even off-road.
The Bronco Sport interior offers comfort with air conditioning, well-placed controls and the SYNC3 infotainment system. The roominess is sufficient for family trips, while the rear seats can be folded in a 60/40 ratio for better use of space.
The disadvantages may be higher fuel consumption (around 11.8 l/100 km) and a higher price, which reflects the exclusivity and original character of the American SUV on European roads. Nevertheless, the Bronco Sport is an interesting choice for many if they are looking for style with a touch of adventure and the certainty of off-road readiness.
